GM will lay off hundreds of workers at its Detroit-Hamtramck plant. The automaker will retool the plant to make electric vehicles.

General Motors is suing Fiat Chrysler Automobiles and several former FCA executives over a corruption scandal involving the United Auto Workers union.

GM said it sold the assembly plant in Lordstown, Ohio, to a company that has plans to build an electric pickup – called the Endurance – at the site.

Some GM hourly workers question the effectiveness of the six-week strike after seeing the detailed product investment in Ford’s proposed plan.

General Motors has fired three UAW workers at Flint Assembly Plant in Michigan for threats of violence during the strike as well as acts of violence.

GM said UAW workers will resume work Monday, but at some pickup production plants, the automaker is looking for volunteers to start sooner.

With more than 38,000 UAW members voting, more than half, or 57%, have ratified the tentative GM agreement, based on Free Press estimates.

About 40 to 50 UAW members chanted “no product, no vote,” saying they would reject their proposed deal with GM if the Lordstown plant remains closed.

The proposed tentative agreement between GM and UAW includes the creation and retention of 9,000 jobs, wage hikes; keeping Detroit-Hamtramck open.

GM’s executives have until Thursday to draft a provisional plan that UAW leaders will accept and turn into a tentative agreement for its members.
