The airline will start selling tickets after it receives formal certification for Hawaii flights from the FAA. No dates were announced.

Southwest Airlines alone has canceled more than 500 Tuesday flights, including nearly 300 at Chicago’s Midway International Airport.

More than 1,000 flights to and from Chicago have been canceled:854 flights at O’Hare International Airport and 224 at Midway International Airport.

The airline also has had to put Hawaii plans on hold because of the shutdown. It needs final approvals from FAA workers who currently are furloughed.
