Travelers buying airlines’ basic economy tickets face restrictions on seat assignments, ticket changes and, in some cases, higher baggage fees.

JetBlue said its unsolicited $3.6 billion offer for Spirit is superior to a deal between budget airline rivals Frontier and Spirit announced in February.
