Volodymyr Losev's foray into the army was as sudden as it was brief. Like many Ukrainian civilian men, he signed up to fight after Russia invaded. He underwent a few weeks of training and then went to the front. On May 7, he was killed when a mine exploded under the car he was driving. (May 17)
